At our micro-recycling activity, we believe that waste can be turned into beautiful design objects. We collect plastic waste from different sources: schools, urban city territories, and seashores. Our goal is to demonstrate the potential of micro-recycling strategies and create a new way of thinking about plastic waste.
We are part of the Precious Plastic open-source recycling system, and we work to educate schools, associations, and events about the possibilities of micro-recycling. Our passion is to show that even the most insignificant and harmful plastic items can be given a new life – as something beautiful and useful.
Section 1: The Journey of Plastic Waste
Plastic is a durable and versatile material that we use in our everyday lives. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most harmful materials for our environment. Plastic takes hundreds of years to decompose, and when it does, it releases harmful chemicals into the soil and water.
Due to a lack of proper waste management, plastic waste ends up in landfills and oceans. This is where our journey begins. Our team collects plastic waste from these areas and sorts it according to its type and color. This is a crucial step in the micro-recycling process, as the quality of the final product depends on the quality of the materials used.
Section 2: The Art of Micro-Recycling
Once the plastic waste has been sorted, it is shredded into small pieces and cleaned thoroughly. We then use a process called injection molding to shape the plastic into new objects. Injection molding allows us to create a wide range of objects, from bowls and coasters to lamps and furniture.
Our team of designers works closely with the materials to create unique design objects that showcase the beauty of plastic waste. Each object is one-of-a-kind, and its story is just as unique.
